Waxing your siphon brew board

Caring for your brew board is as simple as: Wax on; wax off.

CoffeeBOS siphon brew boards are sealed with Brazilian Rosewood oil, which is a virtually odorless, plant-based oil that does not off gas. This penetrating oil provides the long-term protection that your brew board needs. It is rated for use in exterior wet locations, protects against UV damage, and also meets LEED criteria for Green Building. With proper care, this penetrating oil finish is durable enough to last a generation in an indoor, tabletop application

To ensure that this is the case, you will want to occasionally refresh the wax finish that is applied over top of the penetrating oil. Every CoffeeBOS siphon brew board is shipped with a 1/2 ounce jar of homemade brew board wax, which is made using organic beeswax and food-safe mineral oil. To refresh you board’s wax finish simply: Wipe on the brew board wax using a lint-free cotton cloth; After letting the wax sit for a few minutes, wipe off the excess wax. You can repeat this process as often as is necessary. This wax finish is not only pleasant to the touch, but also makes the wood character in your brew board pop.

To keep your brew board looking fresh for as long as possible between wax applications, wipe off any drips and spills as soon as practical, and generally keep the top of the board dry. Any wax finish is water-resistant, not water-proof. While our brew board wax is especially nice, you can also use any natural products intended for use on cutting boards or wooden kitchen tools.
